THICKSET FATHOM DEEP POUR EXPOXY RESIN

Total Boat's deep pour epoxy kit lets you apply deeper single layers than any other epoxy kits. This clear casting resin is ideal for deep casting and molding applications, river tables, sculptures, live edge tables, slab pours and more. Instead of the normal 1/8" to 1/4" per layer common to table top epoxy systems, deep pour epoxy allows layers of resin up to 3″ deep for casting applications, and up to 2″ deep for river tables and slab pours. Clear epoxy can be tinted with mica powder, alcohol inks, universal tints and pigment paste dispersions. Simple 2:1 mix ratio by volume. Cured surface is BPA-free & safer for surfaces that come into contact with food.

CLEAR, DEEP POUR EPOXY FOR LARGE CASTINGS AND SLAB POURS

TotalBoat ThickSet Fathom is simply the best and deepest deep pour epoxy resin kit for thick pour applications – pour single layers up to 3″ deep in prepared molds. Pour live edge slabs and river tables up to 2″ deep per layer. The thicker layer are possible because of the low amount of heat Fathom generates and the extremely slow cure time. But the beautiful results will be worth the wait! Especially with projects created using step pours, because each layer of epoxy will meld seamlessly to produce a final piece that’s completely clear, without visible lines or cloudiness.

Extra long working time is ideal for large or complex epoxy pours

Once you mix ThickSet Fathom’s resin and hardener components, you have anywhere from 2-4 hours to pour it. The working time depends on the volume of mixed epoxy you’re using, as well as the temperature of the air in your workspace – the ideal application temperature range is 60-80°F.

Use tints to change ThickSet Fathom from clear to any color you want

Fathom is water-clear right out of the bottle, but you can easily tint this clear liquid with mica powder, alcohol ink pigments, universal tints, and opaque pigment dispersions. Just mix the resin and hardener together first, then mix in your epoxy safe colorants.

Step Pouring ThickSet Fathom

For best results when applying additional layers of ThickSet Fathom after the first pour, it’s important to note the following:

  • When your project involves pouring multiple layers of ThickSet Fathom, it is extremely important to wait until the previous layer has cooled sufficiently, to prevent surface distortion, yellowing, or other negative effects of excessive heat while the epoxy is curing.
  • Conservatively, the safest interval to wait is a minimum of 36 hours for ThickSet Fathom to cure prior to applying more, regardless of pour depth and ambient temperature.
  • For applications when it’s important to have the shortest interval for multiple pours, wait at least 24 hours, then use an infrared thermometer to measure the temperature at the center of the epoxy mass, where the highest temperature will be recorded.
  • Wait until the previous layer has dropped below 85°F, and the previous epoxy pour has firmed up enough that it will not distort when liquid epoxy is poured on it — it is likely that the previous layer will still be soft.
  • Always follow the maximum pour depth based on the volume of ThickSet Fathom.
